This is one of the premier club events of the year, with the top twenty clubs in Great Britain racing for the title of the top club in the country in two finals A and B. It always produces an excellent atmosphere and some scintillating racing. The club parents were on their feet raising the roof to try and urge our swimmers on to great things and at the half way stage we were still in contention but things were hotting up with both Guildford and Stockport Metro piling on the pressure.
It all came down to the final relay races, and the club raced hard to finally secure third place overall behind runaway winners Millfield, and second place Plymouth Leander. Chloe and Xavier were awarded the top female and male swimmer awards respectively, and Becci De Torres was awarded the award for the most improved 13 and under swimmer.
It was great for us to move up from fourth place last year to third, which is down to the hard work and effort of all of the swimmers and their coaches who competed for us not only in the final, but also in the qualifying rounds. It was great to see the famous Cardiff Scarf on display again, and my grateful thanks go to our club Mascot Delmar who rallied the troops on a very hot poolside! Once again there was an outstanding team effort at these championships, with lots of swimmers setting personal best times and making finals.
